Rare diseases affect 6-8% of world human population, whereas in Poland the number of patients is estimated to be more than 2 million people. The patients contend with several problems starting from difficulty to diagnose, through proper treatment and rehabilitation. Therefore, rare diseases constitute a critical social problem and a non-trivial challenge to the health care system. This event is a way to raise awareness about rare diseases, and a right moment to draw attention to the problems affecting patients touched by such illnesses. Traditionally, an opening conference will be held in \u0141azienki Kr\u00f3lewskie, in the \u0141azienki Palace. The meeting will be attended by the representatives of patients\u2019 organisations, medical specialists, and representatives of national authorities and media.
